About

Korea Travel 101 is an independent English-language guide to travelling in South Korea, written for visitors who are planning a trip and want the practical detail that tourism brochures leave out: what something actually costs, how long it really takes, which app to use, and what goes wrong for first-timers.

What we cover

  • Seoul and city travel — itineraries, neighbourhoods, transport, where to base yourself.
  • Food — how to order, what to expect, options for vegetarians, halal diners and people with allergies.
  • Beyond Seoul — Busan, Jeju, Gyeongju, Gangneung and day trips that are realistic without a car.
  • Arrival and admin — K-ETA, SIM and eSIM, money and cards, T-money, what to pack by season.

How these guides are written

Every guide starts from a question real travellers type into search engines. We then compile the answer from primary sources — official tourism boards, transport operators, airport and immigration authorities, and venue websites — and structure it so the decision you came to make is answered near the top of the page rather than buried at the bottom.

We are explicit about the limits of that method. These pages are compiled research, not personal trip diaries, and we do not claim first-hand experience of every venue we describe. Where a figure changes often — a fare, an entry fee, an opening time — we give a realistic range and point you to the official source to confirm it. See our Editorial Policy page for the full detail.

How the site is funded

Korea Travel 101 is free to read and is funded by display advertising served through Google AdSense. Advertisers have no influence over what we cover or what we say about it, and we do not publish paid placements, sponsored reviews or affiliate product links. If that ever changes, it will be disclosed clearly on the page in question.

Corrections

Korea changes fast and we get things wrong sometimes. If you spot an error, an outdated price or a place that has closed, email contact@koreatravel101.com and we will check it and update the page.
